Volunteer
Habitat volunteers are the driving force behind our mission
to provide safe, decent and affordable housing.
INDIVIDUALS
When you volunteer with Flatirons Habitat you make a difference in the life of a hard-working family. Check out the many volunteer opportunities available on our construction sites and in our office and ReStore - no experience necessary!
Construction & Crew Leaders
Come build with us!
Join us as we build homes and transform lives! Construction Volunteer shifts are available Tuesdays through Saturdays, with flexible schedules to fit your availability. Our projects include new construction, critical home repairs, and home rehabs across our service area. No prior construction experience is required—just a willing heart and a passion for supporting our mission of providing affordable housing.
Become a Crew Leader Volunteer
Are you a natural leader with a passion for construction? If you'd like to volunteer on our construction site at least once a month, on Fridays and/or Saturdays, and receive training in all phases of construction, we want to hear from you!
Email us at volunteer@flatironshabitat.org to learn more about becoming a Crew Leader Volunteer and help us build homes for families in need.
Please Note:
Youth ages 16-17 must be accompanied by a registered parent / guardian while on the build site.
Due to safety concerns, youths younger than 16 are not allowed on our construction sites.
We cannot accept court-ordered volunteers at our construction sites.

Team Build Guidelines
Guidelines
Team Build Days are a full-day experience:
Summer: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Winter: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Team Build days are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and fill up quickly, especially during the spring and summer.
All volunteers must be 18 or older. Volunteers aged 16-17 can participate with a parent or guardian present.
All volunteers must sign a volunteer waiver upon registration.
If your scheduled build day is canceled due to weather or extenuating circumstances, we will make every effort to reschedule your group.
Sponsored Builds
Guidelines
For a donation of $3500, your team can sponsor a build day and fully support the cost of building materials and staff time. This sponsorship allows your organization to “adopt” a day of building and directly contribute to our mission.
Benefits for Sponsoring Teams include:
Complimentary lunch for all team members
Recognition on the Flatirons Habitat for Humanity social media page of choice (LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram)
Sponsoring a build day is a meaningful way to give back while making a lasting impact in your community.

FAQ’s
-
No, construction experience required. We invite all volunteers of all skill levels to our construction sites or our Restore. However, because some activities can be physically demanding, we require every volunteer to complete a safety waiver.
-
Due to safety regulations, construction volunteers must be older than 16 to be present on the build site; and 18 or older to use power tools, to be on scaffolding or to stand on a ladder.
Sixteen- and 17-year-olds must be accompanied by an adult, guardian or school supervisor 21 or older and must have our youth waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
We cannot accept any volunteer younger than 18 at our ReStore, and like all of our volunteers, those who work at the ReStore must sign our safety waiver.
-
When you register for an opportunity to volunteer, you will be provided an address with a map to either the build site or the ReStore.
-
If you can, we encourage you to carpool to our construction site, as parking is often limited. Please be sure to pay attention to parking signs at the build site and at the ReStore.
-
A typical build day is eight hours. We ask that you plan to volunteer for the entire day. If you are seeking a partial day volunteer opportunity, we encourage you to sign up to volunteer at our ReStore.
-
Times vary depending on the location of the job site. Please be sure to arrive on time; when volunteers arrive late it is hard to ensure everyone receives safety training and to accomplish building tasks outlined for the day. When you sign up for a volunteer opportunity you will receive a reminder with the date and times.
-
We build in all weather, including rain or snow, but if we feel it would be unsafe for volunteers to be on the site or at the store, we will cancel your volunteer opportunity. We will make every effort to provide you advance notice and post any cancellations on our Facebook page by 6:30 a.m. on your build day.
-
If you are volunteering on a construction site, please plan to bring:
Lunch (unless you are part of a sponsored team build or other group build for which lunch is provided)
Water bottle
Sunscreen
Wear layered clothing appropriate for the weather
Wear closed-toed shoes (work boots are preferred)
We request you leave your power tools at home. Feel free to bring your own work gloves, hard hat, safety glasses and tool belt; but these are not required and are available at our build site. All of our volunteer sites are a drug- and alcohol-free environments.
We allow cell phones on the work site, but request they are used minimally. Think texting while holding a power tool - not a great combination. But, if you do have your phone and are posting to social media, we'd love it if you could tag us!
-
Everyone is required to accept the waiver at the time of online registration. (Click here to download a copy.) The safety waiver outlines assumption of risk and release liability before you volunteer. Flatirons Habitat for Humanity is required to record your participation for legal and insurance purposes.
-
All volunteers must pre-register, which helps us to ensure everyone has a meaningful experience. If you are looking to volunteer as a group, please complete the team build inquiry form.
