      During this period, Flatirons, then known as Habitat for Humanity of Boulder Valley, focused on detached single-unit home-building. Projects were completed in Boulder, Erie, Lafayette, Louisville, and Nederland.<span class="body_copybold"><br />

        As land prices in Boulder County continue to rise, Flatirons has been forced to be creative in order to continue to be able to build affordable homes. The affiliate has moved away from detached single homes towards multi-unit buildings, allowing us to house more individuals in less area.<br />

        Emerald Hill</span><br />
        This community in Broomfield houses 14 families in 7 buildings, all of which surround a central community area that includes a playground for the many children in the neighborhood. Final dedications for the community took place in the fall of 2006.<br />

        These four units were built in partnership with WonderLand Development Company and Dahota Development company as part of a co-housingproject. This exciting new model for community building creates more than just housing &#8211; community relationships are also strongly encouraged through several measures, including a community center and community garden, which encourage neighbors to spend quality time with each other. Construction was completed in <span class="body_copybold"><img src="../images/photos/wild_sage.jpg" width="204" height="188" align="left" /></span>February, 2004.<br />

      <p><span class="body_copybold">Harmony Haven</span><br />
        Harmony Haven  was built as part of a larger community of non-profits all building in the People&#8217;s Clinic neighborhood. In addition to Habitat&#8217;s nine units, all of which feature fairly extensive green-building measures, the neighborhood also contains senior co-housing and homes built by the Affordable Housing Alliance. Construction began in the summer of 2007 and was completed September 2009.</p>

      <p><strong>Northfield Village</strong></p>
      <p> In September 2009, construction began on one of two 4-plexes in Northfield Village in North Boulder off of Jay Road and 47th St. These 3-bedroom units will incorporate energy, efficient and sustainable building methods including solar. The first 4-plex was completed in summer of 2010, the second 4-plex will be dedicated in March of 2011! <strong> <br />
